GBDBA Junior players can participate in the first tournament of the season. It’s open to any junior player, U13/U15/U17, who has not competed in Badminton Ontario Junior A or B events. Click here for more information.
A new 11 week program will be starting in September that will be an introduction to Competition and Training run by Val Loker, former Canadian Olympic athlete. It is designed to advance the skills of players to prepare them for regional and provincial competitions. Players are required to attend a tryout from which a maximum of 8 players, 4 boys and 4 girls, will be selected by Coach Loker. The tryouts and program will take place at BCOE in Newmarket, a facility dedicated solely for the purpose of badminton. Click for more information and to register. GBDBA is very pleased to have Dominic Soong and Janet Hugli from Soong Badminton Academy, Ottawa provide a Coaching Clinic. Dominic and Janet have coached beginners to national level players for many years. The clinic will be in Barrie from 9am-12pm. A new Masters League is starting this September at BCOE and is open to players from all Districts. BCOE is an excellent, badminton-only facility located in Newmarket. Registration is limited to only 8 teams of 4 players so don’t delay! Get a team together and submit your Registration Form by the deadline of Monday, August 31, 2015.
